Your humor, patience and love for your talent is not only an inspiration to me, but I see how your young students relate to you on so many levels. You are molding their lives. What I would have given to have a mentor such as yourself when I was younger. How wonderful that you were able to discover that part of yourself at a young age and share it with the rest of the world. You are a gift to me from a special Angel who saw a need. You are a God-send to those young kids I see in your class every week. They will be with you for all their lives.

I'm not sure what made me pick up, at age 60, a pencil , a piece of charcoal and some colored pencils...perhaps divine intervention. I'm not sure why I chose Robert Caldwell, but I did.
Thank you for seeing and for helping me to see beyond that which is visible with my eyes. You have opened a space in my mind, my psyche and my heart to see with my hands the color and magic of painting. From that, there are roots that extend out, allowing my eyes to see deeper into than that which is only on the surface.
My siblings and parents on the other hand, could create art with their hands. Pottery, paintings, wood working, graphic art and so on. I could fix every toilet in North America, change a tire, shim a door threshold, fix a bike, make a skate board and so on, but never could draw a stick figure. So I sang.
Thank you for all you have helped me to accomplish. You not only teach art, you teach life. No one has ever taught me how to know a side of me that I didn't know existed...only wished.
As the only person in my family that could sing; I did. It was and still is a means to my heart and an emotional outlet that can literally pull the fibers out of my being into the atmosphere forming long streams of blending melodies. It was my life when I was younger.
My daughter is heading to college to study art after being Robert Caldwell's student for years. From weekly classes, extra studio time and seasonal art shows, he has been supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable. He has a fantastic perspective to share with his students because he is a working artist. Robert is his students' biggest fan. He was integral in the college application process, assisting my daughter in creating a digital portfolio and writing letters of recommendation. I cannot recommend RL Caldwell studios enough!
I can't say enough great things about Robert Caldwell. My daughter has been taking art classes since she was in elementary school at other studios but then we found Robert several years ago. Under Robert's teaching and guidance, not only did her art skills improve dramatically, but her passion for art did as well. Robert helped her create an impressive portfolio and as a result, she got accepted into highly ranked art schools and will be studying art in college next year. Robert is an incredibly talented professional artist but an amazing teacher as well.
