No wonder nobody uses the postal service anymore. I had a package that was shipped fed smart post (handed off to the post office) that should have been delivered today. I was home. My mailbox was clear and easy to access. I have a front porch where packages are always left. Junk mail was left in my mailbox. The small package with a skirt inside (which would have fit in my huge mailbox) was not left. Just got an exception saying it was undeliverable and I'll have to pick up my package. I called the post office and it rang rang, somebody picked it up and hung up and took the phone off the hook so now I get a busy signal. I called Fed ex who told me I have to call the post office. I called the 800 number and there is a 20 minute hold. They can send the damn thing back for all I care at this point. Absolutely the WORST customer service ever at this post office. I have lived in this location for over 20 years, this isn't the first problem, or even the first problem we have had with them this year.
Couldn't deliver my package because I'm home and mail man didn't bother knocking so my package couldn't be left due to no safe place to leave it but other packages were left next door n nobody lives there. Also no slip left for me to write on for them to leave or for me to take to post office for pick up. This post service sucks. Fourth of July is tomorrow so I can't even get my package till the next day maybe!!! Do better its your job
A wonderful & professional post office in my experience of over 40 years receiving service, often of the above-the-call-of-duty variety. There are many friendly, helpful and efficient personnel working at this particular branch of USPS.
I love this post office. I ship lots of packages regularly for my online business and I always leave in a reasonable timeframe and a good mood. The regular clerks are fast and friendly, even when I present them with an enormous stack of parcels, especially Jernisha, Charnell, and Jontae.
Attempted to ship a gift to a friend in West Virginia, and paid extra for priority shipping only to have the package arrive at MY OWN doorstep. I took the package back to the post office where they tried to tell me it was fault and that a computer scans the written address. I have a family member that works at a different branch in Richmond and she explained that their explanation is a lie. The woman who originally entered the shipping information at the counter put my address in instead of the other address. By the way, my package was labeled "TO" and "FROM" in big letters. Apparently reading is not a requirement for this job...
My only bad experiences have been when a customer at another station refuses to accept what the clerk is saying and flips out, blaming the clerk for something over which they have no control. Unfortunately, very few people understand how complex the postal system can be. The staff at the Genito office do an excellent job helping their customers navigate these complexities and do so without reciprocating the customers' rudeness and disrespect. I could take my business to other post offices that are comparably far away from me, but I vastly prefer this one.
However, yesterday, Sept. 18, 2017, the carrier failed to pick up OR deliver the mail to my address. Was my delivery missed in oversight or was it an intentional dereliction of duty? Who knows? So much for "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." An efficient postal service, like so many other qualities in our lives, seems to be becoming "of an era past " : no longer a priority , no longer valued, no longer respected, and soon to be allowed to be forgotten.
