The maternity care here is hit and miss! One of the biggest disappointments was while my child was coming out the nurse held his head inside of me until the doctor arrived so she didn’t have to “do the paperwork.” My labor started at 5pm the day before - it was uneithical and a violation of my body for her to do that! The doctor that delivered my baby didn’t say two words to me the entire time as she roughly sticthed my perinum! The aftercare nurses were great! We couldn’t have asked for better!
I must say the nursing staff is extraordinary. All these folks that work in this career to help us deserve a Bug applause it's just that they don't have enough staff on hand !!!
I had a surgical procedure done on Thursday morning. From the time I entered the hospital I was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. I was well cared for by the doctors, nurse, housekeeping attendant, nutrition staff and transportation team. Everyone was polite, happy and super nurturing.
I wish I could give 1 less star. Absolute NO bedside manner, unorganized, the most cold "labor and delivery" nursing staff I have ever witnessed. To the two nurses working at the check-in on the 2nd floor of St. Francis on 10/12/17 at 8-8:30 AM, if you're that miserable in your chosen work field, perhaps you should look into other options. New life is the most joyous time for most, clearly not for you all. I understand you have policies and procedures to keep mom and baby safe, which we can all appreciate, however this isn't a free invitation to be down right rude and ugly for those who are truly excited. If St. Francis wishes to be known for their customer service, I'd start by clearing house with anyone that resembles these two. Piss poor people skills and quite honestly I did not see the "clean" hospital some before me have mentioned. I did find an empty sanitizer dispensers in every elevator and on every floor we visited, no paper towels in a bathroom, old food on a waiting room table, floors that desperately miss a mop and surfaces that clearly crave a wipe-down. Thank God I was given a heads-up before I welcome a beautiful new bundle of joy.
The facility is a very clean neat and orderly however after a total of 30 days day it is clear that they do not have enough nurses on staff to serve patients in any real fundamental manner. I was often left pain waiting hours to receive a nurse call For pain medication the average wait time when hitting a nurse call button is over 45 minutes. This I am served on two separate stays at the hospital to bring a standard in common place so just be aware that you will not have adequate nurse care at this facility and therefore the ability to manage your pain becomes greatly reduced!!
My family has gone to this facility for several procedures to include ER visits, scheduled surgery, and maternity services. We've always been treated with respect, care and compassion by everyone from the medical providers to the billing specialists. The nurses in the maternity unit are beyond compare and the facility itself is beautiful. Parking at times can be crowded but the extremely friendly FREE valet service is super convenient.
